HAC is thrilled to present the grand finale of its 2024-2025 season, RIDE THE CYCLONE, running May 15-25, 2025.
This wildly inventive musical, with book, music, and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, has gained a cult following for its wit, poignancy, and high-energy score.

What happens when the ride ends too soon?

A group of six Canadian high school choir students find themselves in an unexpected limbo after a tragic roller coaster accident. As they navigate this surreal afterlife, each teen gets a chance to tell their story and plead their case for a second shot at life. The result is a touching, hilarious, and thought-provoking exploration of fate, ambition, and the resilience of the human spirit.

"For me personally, I’ve always had a weird relationship to the idea of death and what it means. I find the idea of finality and peace in the face of the unknown really comforting," says Taylor Clemons, Co-Director. This darkly hilarious and deeply moving musical embraces that very notion, taking audiences on an unexpected journey through humor, heart, and the mysteries of what comes next. “There are not many pieces of modern musical theatre where a high coloratura type soprano is featured. I think a show where an aria like that can coincide with a David Bowie glam rock adventure about cat people in space is zany and exciting, Not your typical musical theatre”- Co Director Sarah Thomas shared.

Featuring a talented cast of local performers: James Russell Cooper, Emily Skirvin, Mimi Housewright, Joy Beth DeWitt-Riley, Luke Skorija, Daniel Harris, Brayden Glass, Savannah Weber, Grace Lillianne, and Jupiter Zorn. Along with a dynamic creative team, Ride the Cyclone promises a bold theatrical experience that will leave audiences laughing, crying, and reflecting on the meaning of life.
